Backstop Hosts Operational Due Diligence Panel in New York
Backstop users and friends gathered on October 29th in New York City for a discussion on "The Changing Landscape of Operational Due Diligence," part of our Backstop Connect regional training. The panel included ODD experts:
Greg Ciaverelli, Partner, Private Advisors, LLC
Brice Wilson, Head of Operational Due Diligence, Magnitude Capital, LLC
George Smith, Head of Operational Due Diligence, Alternative Investments at UBS Financial Services Inc.
Jordan Schwartz, Managing Director, Cordium
Led by Backstop's own Chris DeNigris, the discussion focused on the role of operational due diligence, and issues ODD professionals see trending for smaller managers. This led to a broader conversation on cybersecurity, with questions from the audience addressing outsourced compliance and the evolving role of the CTO. Schwartz stressed that the culture of compliance must be created internally from the top of the organization, but while everyone agreed security is a major risk factor, not all panelists make it a top consideration during the ODD process.
A big thanks to our panelists and attendees for a great event!
